Just as we lost into the blogging world of tech the past few weeks, we missed those new releases and product announcements like these Coby SNAPP mini digital camcorders, the CAM3000, CAM4000 and CAM5000. Price wise, this could be a nice product up into that mini camcorder market competing against other brands. Let’s roll on the features with these new “pocket” camcorders. The Coby CAM5000 SnappHD tops the line with HD video recording at 720p in MPEG-4 format at 30fps, 5.0 Megapixel CMOS sensor with 2,584 by 1,936 pixel resolution, 128 MB internal memory that can be expanded up to 8GB using SD/SDHC card, 2.0-inch LCD display, and an integrated USB port.
The Coby CAM4000 comes with 2.4-inch LCD display, 3MP CMOS sensor(2000 x 1504) with LED for low-light situations with 4x digital zoom, 32MB internal memory with SD/SDHC support up to 8GB, VGA(640 x 480 video recording at 30 fps and also works as a webcam. The CAM3000 the cheapest among the trio, holds an internal memory of 32MB with same expansion slot, 1.3MP CMOS sensor(1280 x 960) with LED, 1.5-inch TFT LCD display, and a VGA(640 x 480) video capture at 30fps.

Michael Paladino, Coby’s senior product manager, told TWICE that the company has reached a deal to distribute the camcorders through Walmart Canada, as well as many of the company’s regular e-commerce partners including J&R Music World It is working on expanding the distribution to other accounts now. “Our opportunity is in our price points,” Paladino said. “Our customer feedback is telling us that there is no one really out there with the product at the price points that we have. With the economy the way it is, we think people are stepping down and being a little more cautious in their spending. A lot of people don’t want to spend the money for a Sony or Flip at $150, where you can get two of these for that price.”
